Helpful Hints

  • At the parent meeting held prior to the start of the season, place a table at the front door with sign-up sheets for working concessions for  the home games, U of U games, ticket sales, and locker decorating.  Specify on each sheet how many shifts are required of each family.  Sit at the table to answer questions and help new families.  It was mandatory and not optional to sign up.  The coach should speak and specify the requirements and then speak about the “opportunities to help with the team and get involved”. Compare the sign ups with the roster and contact the families who did not sign up or maybe were not present.  Parents are willing; they work hard and for the most part enjoy participating in helping the team. 
  • Set up a group email of parents and players.  It makes it so easy to send out schedules, changes that might occur, information from the coach and motivational quotes before games.  This is a great way to keep the communication open and everyone feeling informed and apart.
